Comic-Con Highlights

By Mike Rosenberg

Last week, Cryptozoic Entertainment was in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter with a store that was open only during Comic-Con. Many fans stopped in throughout the weekend to purchase some of our latest products, and many new fans came in to see some of our special guests!

Did you miss out on any of our coverage during the weekend? Well then, you're in luck! Today, we're going to highlight some of our biggest guest appearances from the Cryptozoic Comic-Con Store.

President and CCO Cory Jones is a big fan of The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.

On Thursday, Robert Kirkman came by the store to sign autographs for fans. People brought in plenty of The Walking Dead memorabilia for Kirkman to decorate with his John Hancock, from copies of The Walking Dead Board Game to the rare first issues of The Walking Dead.

"Sure, I'll sign this, but only if you beat me in a staring contest."

Writer Ben McCool also came by on Thursday to sign autographs for fans. Not only was he the writer responsible for the upcoming epic graphic novel Nevsky, McCool is also the writer for The Lookouts comic.

On Friday, the Cryptozoic Store was overrun with zombies. Fans stopped by as our make-up artists zombified willing participants. Even brand ambassador Christina Sims joined in on the fun, bringing a little bit of gory goodness to her own image for the day. Scary!

The men behind The Lookouts sign some merchandise for fans.

On Friday night, The Lookouts creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins joined story developer Cory Jones and writer Ben McCool for autograph signings and chats with fans. People who came by for The Lookouts were also able to pick up a limited-edition copy of the first issue with a variant cover done by Mike Krahulik!

The prize that awaits fans who snag a redemption card from our upcoming Tarzan Trading Cards!

Trading card fans got a chance to see some sweet stuff on Saturday morning. The invitation-only event gave collectors a chance to enjoy a free breakfast and mingle with trading card artists as well as the people who bring these products to life. Attendees also got a chance to see some rare pieces, such as the original art redemptions for Tarzan as well as some un-cut wardrobe pieces for The Walking Dead Season 2 Trading Cards.

Lauren Cohan and Steven Yeun of The Walking Dead were happy to see excited fans on Saturday!

And of course, how can we forget about Lauren Cohan and Steven Yeun stopping by on Saturday. Known for their roles as Maggie and Glenn respectively in AMC's The Walking Dead, these two cast members came by to sign autographs, much to the delight of our fans (and our staff, some of whom got star-struck!).

Thanks again to everyone who came by during Comic-Con weekend. The event was a huge success, and we wouldn't be where we are without your support!
