There's never a dull moment when it comes to working at Cryptozoic. We work hard, we play hard, and we game even harder. Whether it's play testing a new game at our Wednesday game nights, throwing down a board game or two at home, or playing online with coworkers, we always stay true to our gaming roots. Everyone here has such a passion for what they do, and it's reflected in their everyday life.
For example, let's take a look at the section of Cryptozoic team I'm a proud part of: Organized Play. At work, we bring players together in tournaments, large scale events and local level events all around the world. We coordinate with venues, hobby stores, volunteers and players to give you the best experience Cryptozoic games has to offer. Our teamwork is top notch. We also play a lot of Diablo 3.
It's funny how so many things in life can translate directly to a video game. Drew Korfe, our Premier Events Manager, plays the powerful, spell-slinging Wizard. While he may handle coordinating our big venues and large event locations, he's also rather adept at taking care of the big creatures intent on killing our party with a well-placed Arcane Orb or two.
Can't a guy have his D3 break in peace?
I play a Monk, and a rather tank-like one at that. From day-to-day, I'm the Volunteer and Judge Manager for Cryptozoic. This means I get to work with a bunch of amazing people every day that are passionate about our games. In Diablo, I have to manage all the demons that may threaten my party. I'm good at taking care of groups, but instead of handing out promo cards and other cool incentives, I dole out a flurry of punches and kicks. Let's hope I never mix the two up.
Alex Charsky, the Organized Play Manager, plays as a Demon Hunter. His efficiency mastery in work directly crosses over to Diablo when it comes to crunching numbers and getting the most out of any situation. He's taught all of us a thing or two about maximizing our DPS, getting the most out of the auction house, and where the prime farming spots are.
Sara Erickson is our Hobby Store Manager, who is also playing a Monk. She takes extra care in making sure all our hobby stores know how to run events, have product and answers any questions they may have. She takes that same amount of care to her character and is progressing through the game at a comfortable pace, making sure no stone is left unturned and no pot goes unbroken.
Javier Casillas is a Wizard both in Diablo and as our Logistics Manager. He makes sure product gets to where it needs to go and gets there on time. If Diablo 3 had a spreadsheet mechanic, I would be truly frightened to face Javier at PVP. His ability to coordinate and bring the numbers translates into Diablo 3 as pure DPS.
All in all, the Organized Play part of Cryptozoic works together seamlessly as a team both at work and at play. Whether it's in Diablo 3 or at your local Darkmoon Faire, we all bring something to the table to show you the best of Cryptozoic.
