Cryptozoic Announces Release of Three Steven Rhodes Games: Let’s Dig for Treasure, Let’s Summon Demons, and Don’t Talk to Strangers

Based on the Work of the Renowned Artist and Hailing from Cryptozoic’s Dynomite Games Sub-Brand, the Fast-Paced, Easy-to-Learn Games Arrive September 28

Lake Forest, CA – September 22, 2021 – Cryptozoic Entertainment, leading creator of tabletop games, trading cards, and collectibles, today announced the September 28 release of three games based on the work of Steven Rhodes: Let’s Dig for Treasure, Let’s Summon Demons, and Don’t Talk to Strangers. Rhodes is an artist best known for his offbeat reimagining of children’s activity books from the 1970s and 1980s. Reflecting the comical retro worlds in the games, the titles hail from Dynomite Games, an old-school sub-brand of Cryptozoic.

Each 2-6 player game features fast-paced, easy-to-learn gameplay with very little setup time, while offering hidden depth to satisfy hardcore gamers. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign in late 2020, the games will be sold at Spencer’s and hobby stores worldwide in time for Halloween and the holiday season.

"It’s been a very cool experience to see how my designs have been adapted into a larger world of their own,” said Steven Rhodes. “Cryptozoic has done a phenomenal job of capturing the retro vibe and warped humor of my artwork to produce such a fun and collectable set of high quality games."

“We’re huge fans of Steven Rhodes’s art, so it was incredible to create three games inspired by his dark and hilarious sensibilities,” said Cory Jones, co-founder of Cryptozoic. “Besides having really cool art, our goal with the Dynomite Games brand is to bring hobby gaming mechanics to casual board game players. Each of these bite-sized games includes real strategy elements, but the basic rules can be taught in less than five minutes! They’re all super fun and offer a little something for anyone.”

Let’s Dig for Treasure is a fortune and glory push-your-luck experience in which players start by shuffling cards and creating three "Dig Stacks." They then dig for all kinds of zany stuff, while looking for cards that are worth a lot of points or trigger powerful effects.

In Let’s Summon Demons, only the savviest (and luckiest) player—the best Demon Summoner—will walk away a winner. Each player’s goal is to summon all three of their Demons before their opponents by rolling dice, activating cards, and acquiring Soul Tokens.

Finally, in Don’t Talk to Strangers, players navigate kids from school to scoring spaces that reward them with points and unique bonuses. If any player draws a Stranger card, they can abduct any kid on a Stranger Space. The goal is to score as many points as possible before the neighborhood is completely overrun by otherworldly Strangers.

All three games based on Steven Rhodes’s work will be available at stores everywhere September 28 for $19.99 each.
